Home Working – Make sure you are still ISO Ready

The move to home working may well be the biggest long-term outcome of the Covid 19 Epidemic.
Many office-based companies and those with large offices as part of the overall business have seen that  remote working can work. Costs are being re-evaluated, both short and long term, and the opportunity to save on sizable annual property costs are being assessed as part of the business planning.
But it is not as simple as just not bringing people back to the office, and their continuing to work from home
For many contracts, including those with the NHS and other parts of government, and you working for larger clients that may themselves have this type of contract, there are still rules and regulations that need followed.

• Data Protection. A computer at home may not be as secure as one at work. The family may use it and download applications or access websites it may be left on when others are in the house.
• Computer security may not be updated as regularly as it should be
• Passwords may be unused as computers may be left switched on and unlocked.
• e-mail security could be compromised by the lack of secure domestic systems. Home Wi-Fi is often less secure than those used corporately and in the public sector.
• Visible computers on kitchen and dining room tables are an easy target for thieves
